The University of Luxembourg has recently signed an agreement with the University of Geneva. The agreement includes student’s exchange on Bachelor, Master and Doctoral level and exchange of researchers and teachers.
The agreement also entails academic collaboration like the organization of joint seminars and conferences as well as the realization of joint research.
“At the University of Luxembourg, we are very pleased about the agreement with the University of Geneva”, says the vice–rector of International relations, Franck Leprévost. “We hope that this agreement will enhance the activities between our universities on different levels, and that it will give students and colleagues an entry to cooperation between our two universities.”
“The University of Luxembourg is at the moment in the process of creating strategic ties with universities in Europe as well as in other places in the world which we think will be excellent partners for the University of Luxembourg now and in the future”, explains Franck Leprévost.
“The University of Geneva, a world-famous center of excellence, fits well into that picture”. The University of Geneva is a comprehensive university, which dates back to 1559, when it was created by Jean Calvin. Today, it counts 13 300 students. It is a leading research university in Europe; especially in the fields of molecular biology, astrophysiscs, social sciences and economics. The University of Geneva has been listed as one of the top 12 research universities in Europe.
The University of Geneva is a truly international university which shares the international calling of its host city, receiving a lot of international students. It is bilingual; with most of the teaching in French, but also with a wide variety of courses given in English.
The agreement between the two universities is open for collaboration and exchanges in all subjects. It has been signed for a period of 5 years, by rector Jean-Dominique Vassalli of the University of Geneva, and rector Rolf Tarrach and the president of the Board of Governors at the University of Luxembourg, Dr Raymond Kirsch.
