Future Campus Belval
| The construction of the new Campus in the Cité des Sciences in Belval is providing a unique opportunity to ensure that the concepts of sustainable development are integrated in building and campus design. Towards this goal, a group of experts from the UL and the 'Centre de Recherche Public Henri Tudor' prepared a “Position statement on energy and water efficiency in buildings in the Cité des Sciences" . This sets goals and provides recommendations on saving energy use in building operation, use of building materials, deployment of photovoltaïc systems, and measures for minimizing the use of drinking water. Our experts are involved at all stages from planning to construction and operation of the new campus. Since August 2008, the UL position statement is included as official guidance in all future architectural competitions. Work on additional chapters is in progress. One central chapter in development is on energy-efficiency in data centres and laboratories. A workshop on this topic is being organised to connect leading experts with the development of the Cité des Sciences. |
